Solar Eclipse Guide and Path Information

Missed the Eclipse? Here are 14 More Coming in the Next 20 Years

If you missed the August 16, 2017 total solar eclipse, don't despair! There are still plenty of opportunities to see this celestial spectacle in the years to come. Between 2024 and 2044, there will be 14 more total, annular, and hybrid solar eclipses.

Total Solar Eclipse Crosses North America in 2024

One of the most anticipated eclipses of the next 20 years will occur on April 8, 2024. This total solar eclipse will pass over a narrow path across the United States, from Mexico to Canada. Observers within this path will have a chance to see the moon completely block the sun, creating a breathtaking spectacle of darkness in the middle of the day.

Annular Solar Eclipse Visible in 2023 and 2039

An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon is too far from Earth to completely cover the sun. This results in a "ring of fire" effect, where the edges of the sun remain visible around the dark circle of the moon. An annular solar eclipse will be visible from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Timor-Leste, and Australia on October 14, 2023. Another annular solar eclipse will be visible from North America, Europe, and Africa on June 1, 2039.

Hybrid Solar Eclipse in 2027

Hybrid solar eclipses are rare events that occur when the eclipse changes from an annular eclipse to a total eclipse, or vice versa. This type of eclipse will be visible from Antarctica and parts of South America on November 25, 2027.

Other Eclipses in the Next 20 Years

In addition to the total, annular, and hybrid solar eclipses mentioned above, there will also be a number of partial solar eclipses visible from various parts of the world during the next 20 years. These eclipses will provide a great opportunity to observe the sun and moon interact, even if you don't get a chance to see a total or annular eclipse.
