What is AREXVY?
AREXVY is a vaccine for adults 60 years of age and older to protect against lower respiratory tract disease (LRTD) caused by the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
How does AREXVY work?
AREXVY works by stimulating the body to produce antibodies against RSV. These antibodies can help protect against future RSV infection.
Important Safety Information
AREXVY is not recommended for people who:
- Have had a severe allergic reaction to any component of the vaccine.
- Are currently experiencing a moderate or severe illness.
- Have a weakened immune system.
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
The most common side effects of AREXVY include:
- Injection site pain
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Muscle aches
- Joint pain
- Nausea
- Vomiting
AREXVY can also cause serious side effects, including:
- Guillain-Barré syndrome (a rare disorder that affects the nerves)
- Thrombocytopenia (a rare disorder that affects the blood platelets)
