Dereck Lively Iis Neck Injury Could Sideline Him For Game 4

Mavs Rookie Center's Injury Casts Doubt on Playoff Availability

Dereck Lively II's Neck Injury Could Sideline Him for Game 4

Initial Tests Reveal No Major Damage, But Availability Still Uncertain

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday morning that tests on Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II's neck came back clear. However, his availability for Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals remains uncertain.

Lively, who has emerged as a crucial piece of the Mavericks' playoff rotation, sustained the injury during the team's Game 3 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The rookie center was inadvertently struck in the neck and back of the head by Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns' knee in the second quarter.

Lively, who is averaging 8.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game in the playoffs, has been a valuable contributor for the Mavericks. He has started alongside Dwight Powell in the frontcourt, providing energy, defense, and rebounding off the bench.

The Mavericks will face a tough test in Game 4 without Lively. The Timberwolves have been a formidable opponent, and the Mavericks will need all hands on deck to secure a win and tie the series. Mavs coach Jason Kidd has not yet provided an official diagnosis for Lively, but it is possible that the rookie could miss the remainder of the regular season with a knee sprain.

Stay tuned for updates on Lively's status and the Mavericks' playoff series against the Timberwolves.
