Ford's Do-Not-Drive Advisory
Ford Advises Owners Not to Drive Unaffected Vehicles
Dozens of Models Affected by Takata Airbag Recalls
The news is a blow to Ford, which has been struggling to cope with a series of recalls in recent years. The company has issued 14 recalls so far in 2023, and this latest advisory is likely to further damage its reputation.
The affected vehicles include the Ford Mustang, Ranger, Lincoln MKZ, and several other models. The advisory applies to vehicles that have not yet had their Takata airbags replaced.
Ford is urging owners of affected vehicles to contact their local dealer to schedule a free repair. The company says it has the parts necessary to fix the vehicles and that the repairs will take about an hour to complete.
The Takata airbag recall is one of the largest and most complex in history. The airbags have been linked to at least 23 deaths and hundreds of injuries worldwide.
Ford is not the only automaker that has been affected by the Takata airbag recall. Honda, Toyota, and Nissan have also issued recalls for millions of vehicles.
